We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Village Hall
£12 a year membership fee. Individual meetings £2 for visitors. All are welcome.
Stephanie Davis gave us an interesting and educational talk about Seal and Shore Watch. She explained how the charity started in Mundesley, described the life cycles of the Harbour and Grey seals and convinced us to give them a wide berth if we saw them on the beach. Her case studies were sometimes funny and occasionally sad but they left many members wanting to contribute in some way to the work of the charity. In fact several members had come to the meeting with old newspapers and towels, which the charity needs and the Trunch Knitting and Stitching Group had made some toy seals which are sold for fund raising.
The competition items on a sea-life theme included a sea otter toy from America, a sea-lion and a whale tooth from Iceland but Val Dagley’s hand knitted crab won the prize of a sea-life calendar and a seaside lap-tray.
There is a change of speaker for the October meeting. Eddie Anderson will talk about “Reclaiming the River Mun” which runs from his Templewood home in Northrepps, through Gimingham and out to the sea at Mundesley. Eddie is an entertaining speaker and the talk should appeal to those interested in wildlife, local history and fishing.
Visitors will be most welcome as usual for £2 on the door which includes refreshments.
